Pork Steak and Sweet Potato Fries

The first post on the Love meat blog is a Whelan Classic, no messing!  Pork steak with sweet potato chips and fried garlic mushrooms…. Prep time around 5mins. This is a relatively quick easy meal mid week that definitely isn’t lacking in any departments, whatever they may be!

  1. Chop the sweet potato length ways before slicing in to thin strips resembling chips. Spread them evenly over an oven tray smeared in olive oil, giving the chips a healthy coating of salt and pepper. Paprika can also be good here. Then place a few slices of butter on top of the chips to help them crisp nicely. Whack them in the oven for 20 to 25mins on 190-160 degrees centigrade.

  2. Slice the mushrooms and garlic in the mean time, and with around 10 mins to go place the pork steaks in a hot frying pan with a knob of butter and some olive oil. Keep the heat high and seal both sides seasoning generously. Once sealed turn to around half heat for a couple of minuets on each side, gradually reducing the heat  until cooked, the process taking no longer than 10 mins.

  3. Take the steaks out of the pan to rest for a minuet and quickly blast the mushrooms in the juices from the steak…..

Bang, a hearty meal that’s full of flavour and easily adaptable. You can chuck some nice greens on there too, just as long as you LoveMeat!
